Is This Outdated? is a Chrome extension that instantly shows you how old any webpage's content is by displaying a colour-coded age badge in your browser toolbar. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we access, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

We collect absolutely nothing. This extension requires no account, no sign-in, and no payment. No data of any kind is ever sent to any server.

Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your personal information, name, email address, or any account details.
• We do not collect browsing history, page content, or any information about the websites you visit.
• Date metadata read from pages is processed entirely on your device and is never uploaded to any server.
• We do not collect or process any payment information. The extension is completely free with no paid plans.
• We do not use analytics, crash reporting, or any tracking tools.

How the Extension Works

When you visit a webpage, the extension reads publicly available date signals already present on that page, such as meta tags, JSON-LD structured data, microdata attributes, and visible date text. This is used solely to calculate the age of the content and display a badge in your toolbar. All processing happens locally on your device. The result is held in your browser's memory only for that tab and is discarded the moment you close or navigate away from it.

Permissions Explained

• activeTab: Required to read the date metadata from the page you are currently viewing. Access is limited to the active tab only.
• scripting: Required to inject the date-extraction script into the active tab when the popup is opened and the script has not yet run.

No other permissions are requested. The extension does not access your browsing history, cookies, personal data, or any other sensitive browser information.

Third Party Services

None. The extension does not integrate with, communicate with, or send any data to any third party service, analytics provider, or advertising network. All code runs locally within your browser.

Data Security

Because no data is ever collected or transmitted, there is nothing to secure on our end. All date metadata processed by the extension stays entirely within your browser and is never exposed outside your device.

Children's Privacy
